What is ABA?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific, problem-solving approach designed to produce socially-significant outcomes. In other words, Behavior Analysts aim to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities using the science of behavior. With a focus on positive reinforcement and motivation, behavior analysis has become the leading therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as it teaches children functional behaviors to help them become happy and more independent individuals. The application of ABA is not limited to individuals with Autism, however, over 60 years of research supports its effectiveness in meeting the complex needs of this population.

Meet Our ABA Clinical Directors

Lori Estein

Lori Estien M.S., BCBA, LBA

ABA Clinical Director

Lori is a Board Certified and a New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst has worked in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis with individuals with special needs and abilities since 2010.  After completing her undergrad in psychology, Lori realized her interest and passion for ABA and pursued her Master’s of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis.

While completing her Master's with Capella University, Lori worked in a public school setting as a 1:1 classroom behavioral support and home services technician to assist student's with generalizing skills learned in the classroom to the home as well as help parents with their own skills in supporting their child's progress and skill development.  Prior to Achieve Beyond, Lori worked as clinical BCBA/LBA supervisor and then Assistant Clinical Director for a non-profit agency where she provided in home treatment supervision, clinical support to the clinical supervisor, parent training and training development for staff.  In 2019 Lori began working with Achieve Beyond as a fee-for-service BCBA/LBA clinical supervisor.  Lori quickly learned that Achieve Beyond's core values and dedication to clients matched her own and she came on board as a full time clinical supervisor.  This allowed Lori work with many great families in Suffolk County and help them create meaningful and significant change in their child's life.  Lori has always been passionate about working closely with the families of her clients so that she can ensure the treatment approach and goals are individualized and socially significant to their child's unique needs as well as the family's values.  Additionally Lori is also dedicated to collaborating and assisting fellow colleagues in her field. As Achieve Beyond's ABA Fieldwork Supervision Coordinator, Lori worked closely with others to develop a comprehensive and immersive program that provides future behavior analysts with supervision while completing their fieldwork.  In January of 2021, Lori stepped into the role of Assistant Clinical Director for the Melville location where she works closely with the Regional Operations Director in providing clinical support to staff, conducting assessments, overseeing program changes, as well as continues to ensure clients are receiving effective and evidence based- treatment approaches in a fun and supportive environment.

What services do you currently offer?

Achieve Beyond currently provides ABA therapy for children through health insurance. We are able to provide these services in your home and community (depending on funder). Our current areas that we serve are Fairfield and New Haven counties.

What insurances are you in network with?

We are currently in network with most insurance plans. Our insurance acceptance list is updating on a regular basis. Please call us at  1-877-654-0999 to confirm if we accept your insurance. We also offer affordable self-pay rates if necessary.

Our intake staff will verify your benefits, obtain pre-authorization or pre-certification, and your deductible and copay information, but it is important to note that this is not a guarantee of payment from you insurance carrier. Payment cannot be determined until claims are submitted and responded to by your insurance carrier. Even after benefits and eligibility are verified, you may still be responsible for payment in the event that claims are denied.

How do I get started?

Contact our office at 1-877-654-0999 or click here to refer your child and obtain more information. If you are planning to use your insurance benefits, we can check with your insurance carrier to obtain a quote of benefits and an authorization or pre-certification. Once this step is completed, we will need you to complete an intake packet and send in a prescription for ABA and a diagnosis report. We will then request for one of our skilled BCBAs to contact you to complete an assessment, where they will work with your child and family to create the skill acquisition plan and behavior intervention plan. . We can also provide additional services if you currently have an IEP or IFSP and are looking to supplement those services, as this
therapy will occur through your medical insurance, rather than the school.

What will you work on with my child?

We specialize in reducing increasing functional communication skills, reducing challenging behaviors by increasing functional behaviors, improving play and social skills, and increasing daily living skills. As we are providing services through medical insurance, we are not able to target academic skills, provide tutoring or
babysitting services, and/or provide respite services.

How do I check if see if my insurance covers the cost of ABA (autism services) for my child?

Achieve Beyond will follow-up with your insurance company to verify eligibility, benefits, and co-pays if applicable.

Where are therapy services provided?

Services are provided at your home or (if approved by your insurance) in the community setting.

Is there an age requirement for services?

No. Achieve Beyond provides services to children from birth to twenty-one years of age.

*EI services are for children under 3 years of age with suspected or established developmental delays or disabilities. The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a public program funded by New York State. All children must be referred to the municipality to access services and the telephone number of the municipality must be included to facilitate a referral. Achieve Beyond’s programs are approved and funded by the New York State Department of Health. Services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to parents, although health insurance will be accessed for reimbursement. Eligibility is determined by state-approved evaluators under contract with NYC, Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Orange counties. If the child is found eligible, services are identified in collaboration with the parent and must be authorized by the municipality. The municipality will arrange for service providers to deliver authorized services. When EI services are delivered in child care settings or community locations that require a fee, the parent is responsible for paying any costs associated with the child care or community location. Call 311 or (518) 473-7016 for more information.
