Notice of Filing

Pursuant to 20 C.F.R. §656.10(d), notice is provided of the filing of an application for permanent labor certification for the following job opportunity:

Title: Special Educator

Duties: Under the supervision of an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Clinical Supervisor, provide special education instruction to children with autism and other developmental delays, age zero to three. Provide of services to children in their homes in Bronx, NY. (Ninety percent of the position’s duties are performed in the homes of children). Utilize methodologies such as discrete trials and behavior reinforcers to improve the child’s social, communication, and cognitive abilities. Plan curriculum, prepare lessons and other instructional materials. Develop and implement individualized plans to meet the child’s specific needs, interests and abilities. Collaborate with parents and multidisciplinary team of special educators, psychologists, and therapists to define appropriate goals and program activities. Train parents in activities and techniques to continue working with the child throughout the week. Prepare written reports and document the child’s progress toward meeting established objectives. Participate in parent conferences, case conferences and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings.

Location: The homes of children in the Bronx borough of New York, New York and Achieve Beyond, 70-00 Austin St, Ste 200, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Ninety percent of the position’s duties are performed in the homes of children.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Speech Language Pathology or a closely related field;  New York Speech and Language Disabilities teaching certificate or New York Speech & Hearing Handicapped teaching certificate.

Salary: $53,250 per year
